Dresses for Breastfeeding

With less than 6 weeks to go until baby is due, I'm starting to think about the practicalities of life after birth. I have so many lovely dresses in my wardrobe, waiting patiently until I can fit back into them, but I have realised that not a single one of them is going to work for breastfeeding baby... certainly not in public.
So with my new fashion design and pattern making skills I have begun to plan some new items for my wardrobe that will not only be practical, but be pretty too.
(I hate all the stretchy breastfeeding t-shirts and tops that are on the market. Jut because I am pregnant or a new mum shouldn't mean that I can't look nice!)

In my opinion, the ideal dress for breastfeeding should have a front opening and be loose enough around the bust and waist for comfort. So I have found some front buttoning dresses online for inspiration. I'm looking forward to seeing what I can come up with!

Sewing for Baby Boy

Boy clothes are boring. I make no secret of the fact. But, my child must have clothes, and I may as well make them as interesting as I can. Here are some overalls and shorts that I have made recently. Hope they fit!
Cute overalls with little green turtles!!
Shorts made from cut-off's (from my maternity pants)

Quilted Cot Bumper

I decided that to match my cute cot quilt I should make an equally cute cot bumper. So I found my quilting scraps and made up some small quilt blocks. I then appliquéd these to a strip of fabric (sadly not the white with dots fabric I used as the background of my quilt) and added wadding and a backing and quilted away. I then used blue bias tape to finish off the edges. The bumper ties onto the cot railing in about six places, so it should be nice and stable. Baby needs to hurry up and come so he can see all the fun things I've made for him!

Yay... the cot is all ready!
